Supervised Consumption

This service requires a pharmacist to supervise the consumption of prescribed medicines at the point of dispensing in the pharmacy, this then ensures that the dose has been correctly administered to the patient. Examples of medicines that which may have to have consumption supervised include methadone and other medication used for the management of opiate dependence. Our pharmacists will provide support and advice to patients, and where appropriate provide referrals to specialist or primary care centers. Private consultation rooms are also available if required by the patient.

This service will:

  •  dispense supervised medicines in specified installments
  • ensure that each does is administered and consumed by the correct patient for whom it was intended
